Def Leppard formed in 1977 in Sheffield, England at the beginning of the new wave of British heavy metal that took the world by storm in the early 80's. Over the past forty years, they have reached the pinnacles of rock success and continue to tour and fill arenas. Well-known for their spectacular live shows, Def Leppard created a groundbreaking sound that inspired an army of fans. Their powerful harmonic melodies are instantly recognisable, combining elements of hard rock, arena rock and heavy metal. The band has had the same line-up since 1992 with Joe Elliot on lead vocals, Phil Collen on lead guitar, Rick Savage on bass guitar, Rick Allen on drums and Vivian Campbell on guitar with all musicians also providing backing vocals. Steve Clark was a guitarist with the group from their formation until 1991. The group is one of the biggest-selling music artists of all time and has sold over 100 million records internationally. They also have two RIAA Diamond awards for the albums 'Pyromania' and 'Hysteria' with the album 'Hysteria' ranking 384th on Rolling Stone's '500 Greatest Albums of All Time' list. The group is one of only five rock bands that have two studio albums selling over 10 million copies each, putting them alongside the Beatles, Van Halen, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin. Def Leppard produced over a dozen hit singles including the number one selling 'Love Bites' released in 1988. Other significant releases include 'Armageddon It', 'Pour Some Sugar On Me' and 'Let's Get Rocked' all reaching the top five of the US Billboard Hot 100. Def Leppard continues to be a significant force in rock music, releasing studio albums such as 'Def Leppard' in 2015. The group is lined up to play a 2017 North American tour along with Poison and Tesla.
